The Theater Arts program at Arcadia University is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential part-time temporary teaching, production personnel and guest artist positions. Application submission to the part-time pool is open to qualified and competent experts, who possess skills, education, and experience in academic and/or professional areas. All part-time faculty, production personnel and guest artists are responsible for providing our students with a high-quality learning environment, while utilizing their focused expertise and experience in their individual classrooms, studios, and online platforms. Postings are for potential part-time, non-benefited, positions during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The number of part-time instructors hired by the department varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the program. When a position is available, qualified applicants may be contacted for an interview and asked to submit further documentation. While there may not be immediate openings, the hiring manager will review applications when openings do occur.

Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities for Adjunct Teaching Faculty:
Instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes
Instructional preparation
Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
An obligation on the part of faculty member to be available to students by appointment when mutually convenient
Other duties as required Potential hires for the courses/subject areas are listed below, but this list is not all inclusive. Other courses/subject areas may become available within the department.

Areas of priority for 2024-25 include:
Stage Movement
Acting and Auditioning
History of Musical Theater

Major Responsibilities for Production Personnel and Guest Artists:
Representative positions that may become available include, but are not limited to:
Accompanist, master electrician, scenic carpenter, scenic painter, director, choreographer, music director, lighting designer, costume designer, sound designer, scenic designer, intimacy director and fight choreographer and are assigned by department operational need and candidate qualification.

Required Qualifications for Adjunct Teaching Faculty:

  • Appropriate level of experience and/or master's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree or commensurate, high level professional
  • Required Qualifications for Production Personnel and Guest Artists:
  • Expertise and experience in field sought
  • Experience working in Professional or College Theater or Musical Theater program
